Built Bar Review and Giveaway!!!
Nicky is obsessed with these new protein bars she discovered via some groups on Facebook. They are called Built Bar and have a variety of flavors such as Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Coconut, Mint, Raspberry, Orange, Lemon, Vanilla and just recently Strawberry. The inside texture can be compared to a gummy bear, marshmallow or Turkish delight, and they are covered in delicious and real dark chocolate. Nicky says they remind her of a chocolate covered gummy bear and those are her favorite candy, so naturally this bar has become a staple in our house! I am a little more weary when it comes to different textures, especially in a protein bar, but I had to try these for myself.
Each bar has 110 cals, 15g of protein, 6g of fiber, 4g of sugar and 4g of fat. They end up being only 3 WW smart points, very Keto and low sugar friendly and just 1 yellow container count on any of the Beachbody programs. They seriously taste like a chocolate candy bar; so not only do they seem like a decadent treat, they really fit in with any healthy lifestyle!
Built Bar was kind enough to send us a few flavors to taste; Salted Caramel, their newly formulated Vanilla, and newly formulated Raspberry, Chocolate Mousse and the brand new Strawberry flavor, which Nicky was the most excited about. We already had a box of Orange, so decided to add that flavor in to review as well. Since I don’t like fruit flavored chocolate, I will be reviewing the Salted Caramel, Vanilla and Chocolate Mousse and Nicky will be reviewing the Raspberry, Orange and Strawberry. We had heard the filling firms up a bit in the fridge, so if you like a more firm filling, eat them straight from the fridge!
DOUBLE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE
Double Chocolate Mousse is a true bitter, dark chocolate flavor. If you are a fan of Dark Chocolate then you will LOVE this bar. It’s texture is slightly different than the other flavors, way more mousse textured than gummy or marshmallowy. It’s a bittersweet chocolate flavor that has the typical aromatic notes of cocoa. As a fan of bittersweet dark chocolate this was my favorite!
VANILLA CHOCOLATE CREME
Vanilla smells like real vanilla, and the filling tastes sort of like white cake, but is still creamy and velvety as you would expect vanilla cake to be. The flavor is very subtle, so you mostly just get the flavor of the dark chocolate coating with a tiny hint of vanilla flavoring. I would rate this my second favorite. It’s sweeter than the chocolate mousse, so if you lean more toward milk chocolate than dark chocolate, this flavor meets in the middle!
SALTED CARAMEL CHOCOLATE
Salted Caramel has that browned sugar, rich taste of caramel but it definitely tasted more like coffee to me than caramel. If you like Caramel Macchiatos or caramel syrup in your coffee, then you might really like this flavor. I would rate this my least favorite flavor of the three I tried. I am not a huge caramel fan though, so that might be the reason.
STRAWBERRY CHOCOLATE CREME
The newest flavor from Built Bar hits it out of the park. It smells and tastes exactly how you would imagine chocolate covered strawberry flavor to be. It’s sweet, fruity and creamy, and the dark chocolate is a perfect match to the strawberry flavored middle. 100% Nicky’s favorite.
RASPBERRY CHOCOLATE CREME
Raspberry smells and tastes like the sweet and tart flavor of Raspberry jam. The finish is sweet and fruity and the bitterness of the dark chocolate coating really lends itself well to the sweetness of this flavor. This is Nicky’s second favorite.
ORANGE CHOCOLATE CREME
The orange smell is present here, but it does not taste very orange-y. Chocolate covered orange is usually a really good combo, but this orange flavor isn’t as true orange as Nicky wishes it was. It’s not bad, but not quite as good as the Strawberry and Raspberry.
The other flavors like mint and coconut are also really good. I think there is a perfect flavor for everyone!
